Articulation in Early Music (Part 2)

The purpose of this video is to help performers interpret Bach’s Sonatas and Partitas with respect to the articulation.

There is a lot of information codified in the violin slurs. A little study can go a long way towards deciphering those slurs, in turn inspiring us and helping us interpret the music more eloquently and expressively.

The video also demonstrates differences between the Baroque style of playing the violin, and the modern style.

The way that Baroque violinists held the bow, the way in which they used it, and even the way they positioned the left hand, directly affected how they made the music speak, as is demonstrated in this video—a real must-see, whether you are a guitarist or a violinist.
