Discussion of the Sarabande's use of Hemiola and Phrygian cadences, the rhythmic unit of the French Sarabande, as well as a discussion of how Bach's choice of key was so related to the unequal temperament that was in use at the time. The video then discusses how Bach interweaves all this in with the doctrine of affects, which addresses the most important concern of musicians in Bach's time, namely it's purpose being to stir the listener's emotions.
